The Good, the Bad and the Expensive

Good news. Well, news which creates the hope that good news is on its way. Tony Ireland will be contacting me within two weeks with the offer of my becoming an apprentice mechanic! I believe that merits a 'boo-yah'. Of course they might contact me saying 'we don't have a job for you' but, y'know, glass half full and all that.

On SBS this evening, for about ten hours, was this big thing on teenage sex and STDs and contraceptives and the whole kip'n'kaboodle. There was one thing that was missed out and its an important point to be made:

Never use glow-in-the-dark condoms.

For starters the idea is silly. Why does a condom need to glow in the dark in the first place? And its only the tip of the condom anyway. It'd be kinda cool if you turned out the lights and *lightsaber noise* you have this glowing, fluorescent cock but no, its only the tip. They also break more easily than other condoms. Don't ask me how I know - just because I like the story doesn't mean you will.

So yeah, can we get that added to the sex ed text books? Good.

Now I'd like to open the floor to debate. I basically have three choices as to where I spend my money. I can get a PS3 (approx. $1500, with all the trimming), a (good) computer (approx. $2500) or save for my first car (approx. $8000). Given that I have about $1200 what do people think I should go for and why?

The person with the best reasoning gets first dibs on whatever I decide to buy when I die.

Rory.

WHAT??? But they are glow-in-the-dark all over!! Arent they?? ... I swear.... maybe I'm wrong...maybe you didnt get the right kind...

I think you should get a computer. You'll get more use out of it...PS3 will only make you a sad sad person and you'll lose your girlfriend. Now do you want that to happen??? DO YOU??? (take note Joseph, I am talking to you as well :P)

I disagree with KT. I think a PS3 is an EXCELLENT use of money. Why?
-Blue ray technology for crisper images
-40 x faster than PS2
-HD cables included
-Up to 7 controllers (motion sensitive)
-Can shop online
-60g harddrive to store music, images videos etc.
- backwards compatability

Why wouldnt you? Actually, Toys R Us (I am saying this as a consumer and not an employee) has an excellent deal where you get Motorstorm and Resistence and $900 worth of savings coupons for only $1099.99

Also because you are my special friend, theres 10% off everyhting except consols.

Enough reasons?

I'm going to say 'car' until persuaded otherwise (and for arguments sake). Yes a computer would be handy (and the one I want would probably be only slightly less good than a PS3 in terms of graphics and power) but its expensive and I don't really have the space for it. A PS3 would also be good as it is an awesome games system (far outstripping the 360 from what I've heard) and it would fit in the space my PS2 currently sits. A PS3 though lacks the usefulness of a computer and with my 17' TV much of its awesomeness would be lost.

A car has the advantages of:
-Not running on peddle power
-I have the space for it
-Can be used for both recreation and work and
-Probably wont mind that my TV is very small

I also discovered today that I could get a pretty bitchin brand-name sound system install for under $2000 which I was not formerly aware of.

I am not buying anything yet but I am erring towards a car.

Just to let everyone know I've found a car I like on the internet for $9,500.

The bloke who is selling the car has lowered the price by $200.

I showed the car to Dad but and he said it would be good but I need to have more money saved before I get a loan and (subsequently) a car.

At least I know he doesn't mind me getting a two-door, two-seater, RWD, manual coupe'.
